CHALLENGE

Edit sixteen hours of student-shot footage of Woodlawn Charter School’s trip to the SNCC conference into an engaging short doc to raise funds for the school.

PROCESS

Studied the footage, which included filmed classroom lectures, interviews with students and civil rights organizers, along with miscellaneous footage of the group’s comings and goings.

Structuring according to the messages that clients wanted to get across (including recording and mixing in VO). Made sure to use footage that gave a sense of how excited and impacted the students were on the trip.

Finally, used endemic singing and percussion from the footage to give rhythm and pacing to the story.

FINAL VIDEO

RESULT

Seven-minute video that gave funders a sense of how the school’s SNCC field trips impacted the students and got them excited to keep funding the program.
